Undocumented illegal immigrants have been in panic since Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.

Undocumented Bangladeshis are also worried since Trump was sworn in on January 20.

Meanwhile, raids have been launched in various states of the United States to detain undocumented immigrants. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested four Bangladeshis from the Fulton area of the Brooklyn in New York.

Since his inauguration, Donald Trump has signed more than a hundred executive orders related to immigration as of Tuesday. He has signed 47 new ones, including the cancellation of 78 executive orders from the Joe Biden era. He has announced a strong crackdown on illegal immigrants. Raids have begun in various states of the United States. Undocumented suspected immigrants are being questioned on a large scale.

Khadija Muntaha Ruba, a New York immigration law officer, said that ICE arrested four undocumented Bangladeshis while they were hanging out in the Fulton area of the Brooklyn borough of New York. They were wearing white clothes at the time.

A Bangladeshi witness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We were hanging out in the Fulton area. Suddenly, some officers in white clothes came and asked us to show our ID cards.”

A protester said that according to the Fifth Amendment of the United States, he was not obliged to show his ID card. He was arrested for saying this and the others were released. Three more people were arrested in the same area a short distance away.

78-year-old Donald Trump said at his inauguration ceremony in Washington on January 20 that millions of immigrants are freely entering the United States by crossing the US border and engaging in various crimes. Entry to the border will be stopped first. Then the criminals will be expelled.

A state of emergency has already been declared on the Mexican border. A tight security system has been put in place. The US border authorities have also stopped a project to legalize immigrants under this order.

Raju Mahajan, an attorney of Bangladeshi origin living in the US, said that several of Trump's executive orders may affect Bangladeshis. Those who used to illegally enter the US through the Mexican border via Brazil, Argentina and other South American routes will be completely closed. Earlier, diversity was given importance in government jobs. As such, immigrants have had extensive job opportunities in various places. From now on, those appointments will be determined on the basis of merit. As a result, many Bangladeshis may be laid off.

Trump has also revoked a provision of citizenship by birth by issuing an executive order without regard to the Constitution. In this, children of illegal immigrants born in the US after 30 days will not be able to obtain citizenship of the country.

However, 24 states and cities have already filed lawsuits against this executive order. Since it goes against the Fourteenth Amendment to the US Constitution, the High Court can annul it.

Khadija Muntaha advised Bangladeshis to be cautious and said that if members of any law enforcement agency question them, they should cooperate. Working with other people's work permits should be stopped. In these difficult times, unnecessary police or other disputes or troubles should not be involved.

It has been seen on the spot that the roads and restaurants in Bengali-dominated areas, where there used to be a large crowd of people, are now almost devoid of people. Security arrangements have already been strengthened.
