Killing in NCP violence : 3 bodies exhumed in Gopalganj
Gopalganj Correspondent
The bodies of three individuals killed in political violence in Gopalganj are being exhumed on Monday for autopsy. Preparations are underway to exhume the bodies from the municipal cemetery in the city and from the cemetery in Tungipara.
The deceased are—Imon Talukdar, Romzan Kazi, and Sohel Rana Molla. Among them, Imon and Romzan were buried at the central cemetery in the city, while Sohel was laid to rest in Tungipara.
Sources say that on the day of the clash, four people were buried without autopsy based on the requests of their families. However, after a case was filed over the incident, authorities decided to exhume three of the bodies for investigation purposes. Earlier, Romzan Munshi, who died last Thursday while undergoing treatment in Dhaka, underwent an autopsy at Dhaka Medical College.
Although the exhumation process was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, it had not started as of 12:30 p.m. Police officials stationed at the cemetery said the process would officially begin once the executive magistrate arrives.
According to the administration, after exhumation, an inquest report will be prepared and the autopsies will be completed. The bodies will then be reburied today.
