Teenager killed by lightning strike, i3 Injured in Tongibari

A teenager named Abir Dewan (14) died after being struck by lightning while throwing a tree branch into a pond for fishing in Tastipur village of Tongibari upazila in Munshiganj.
Three others were injured in the incident. The deceased, Abir Dewan, was the son of Alomgir Dewan of Tastipur village. The injured are: Md. Ratan Dewan (38), Al Amin Dewan (35), and Mohon Molla (40), all from the same area. They received primary treatment at Tongibari Upazila Health Complex.
According to reports, at around 2 PM on Thursday, the victim and the injured were preparing a pond in front of their house for fishing by cutting and placing tree branches in the water. Suddenly, a lightning strike occurred during rain, killing Abir Dewan on the spot and injuring Ratan Dewan, Al Amin Dewan, and Mohon Molla. The injured were rescued and taken to the Tongibari Upazila Health Complex for initial treatment.
Regarding the incident, Tongibari Police Station OC Mohidul Islam said, police were sent to the scene upon receiving the news. Further legal procedures are underway.
