Annual General Meeting of Sylhet LGED Contractors Welfare Association was held on Monday.

Association president Babu Rakhal Dey Presided over and general secretary Shamim Ahmed conducted the meeting.

Contractor Jabbar Ahmed recited from the Holy Quran in the first session of the meeting. District and upazila contractors of the association gave welcome speech.

In the meeting, General Secretary Shamim Ahmed presented the report of the past days of the association and called upon the new leadership to keep the activities of the association dynamic. In the president's speech, Babu Rakhal Dey said that for a long time, the association has given all the support to the contractors in ups and downs. Organized contractors at upazila level. In the long run, there may be mistakes made by us, so the association will be better organized through future leadership. He announced the dissolution of the present Executive and Advisory Committee from the General Assembly.

Later, the second session was held at LGED office hall at 2 pm. An Advisory Committee was constituted to form the Committee for the session 2024-25 based on the views of the General Contractors. Subrata Bhowmik Chandan was made the head of the 11-member advisory council. The members of the advisory council are Golam Kibria, Mahbub Ahmad Chowdhury, Shamsur Rahman Babul, Tofail Ahmad, Ahadur Rahman, Joynal Ahmad Ranu, Taibur Rahman, Moshahid Ali, Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Md. Delwar Hossain.

In the second session presided over by Subrata Bhowmik Chandan, the head of the advisory council, the advisory committee formed based on the opinions of the general members reviewed and discussed among the general contractors and formed a three-member committee for the 2024-25 session. The committee approved senior contractor Mahmud Hossain Tofa as president, Abul Kalam as general secretary and Oli Chowdhury as organizing secretary.

When the said committee was revealed in front of the general contractors, all the contractors expressed their agreement and congratulated the newly formed committee. The leaders of the newly formed committee were invited to form a full-fledged committee within the next 1 month. After the meeting, the representatives of the newly formed committee had a courtesy meeting with LGED Executive Engineer AKM Farooq Hossain. Meanwhile, the executive engineer congratulated the newly formed committee and said that the new committee will work like the previous committee as a partner in the development of LGED Contractor Welfare Association. Contractors have a role in the development of the country. He assured the association of cooperation in any need.
