In the murder case of Belal Hossain, a tissue trader in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, a court has sentenced one person to death and fined him Tk 50,000. 

At the same time, two others were sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Tk 50,000 each. The verdict was announced yesterday, Tuesday noon by Judge Md. Aminul Haque of Narayanganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-3.

At the time of the verdict, one of the convicts was present in court, while the other two were absent.

The convict sentenced to death is Md. Nadir alias Nasir (35), son of Md. Sahabuddin of Baghmara area in Siddhirganj. The two convicts sentenced to life imprisonment are: Md. Manik Mia (41), son of late Ibrahim Khalil of Mouchak area in Siddhirganj, and Mohon (25), son of Mosharraf Hossain of Sanarpar area in Siddhirganj. Among them, Mohon was present in court.

Confirming the matter, Narayanganj Court Police Inspector Md. Kaiyum Khan said, “In a murder case under Siddhirganj police station, one person has been sentenced to death and two others to life imprisonment. At the time of the verdict, one was present in court, and the other two were absconding.”

Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Md. Nazrul Islam Masum said, Belal Hossain, son of late Abdur Rashid of Nangalkot in Cumilla, used to sell tissue products at different hotels in Siddhirganj area. On the night of February 18, 2022, while collecting dues in Sanarpar, miscreants tried to snatch Tk 600 and his mobile phone from him.

He further said, “At that time, during a scuffle with the miscreants, Belal was stabbed. Later, locals rescued him and took him to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Following the incident, his brother-in-law Md. Kazi Zahid filed a case with Siddhirganj police station. The court delivered the verdict in that case.”
