Preparatory meet in Kapasia to celebrate Independence Day

A preparatory meeting was held to celebrate Genocide Day on March 25 and Independence Day and National Day on March 26. The meeting was held in the Upazila Parishad meeting room on Sunday morning.

A special decision was taken unanimously in the meeting held under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) 'Tamanna Tasneem' to celebrate Independence Day and National Day with due dignity.

Among others present at the event were former Chairman of Kapasia Upazila Parishad and General Secretary of Upazila BNP, freedom fighter Alhaj Khandaker Azizur Rahman Pera, Kapasia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Barik PPM, freedom fighter Bazlur Rashid Molla, freedom fighter Shamsuddin Khan, freedom fighter Mofiz Uddin, freedom fighter MA Gani, Upazila Agriculture Officer Sumon Kumar Basak, Upazila Engineer (LGED) Md. Belal Hossain Sarkar, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abdul Arif Sarkar, Upazila Education Officer Ramita Islam, President of Kapasia Press Club FM Kamal Hossain, BRDB Chairman Md. Selim Hossain Arju, Convener of Kapasia Bazar Traders Association Afzal Hossain, Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maulana Farhad Hossain Molla, Durgapur Union BNP President Solaiman Molla, Ansar VDP Officer Fayez. Ahmed, Azgar Hossain Khan, Kapasia Degree College Principal Md. Humayun Kabir, Kapasia Government Pilot High School Headmaster Md. Mahmudul Haque, Harimanjuri Pilot High School Headmaster Md. Abdul Malek, District Women's Party President Jannatul Ferdousi, BRDB Officer Dilara Akhter Fakir, Family Planning Officer Rahima Khatun, Public Health Engineer Rezaur Rahman, among others.
The decision taken unanimously in the meeting was to observe a blackout program on the night of March 25, to fire 31 cannons at sunrise on March 26, to pay tribute at the Martyrs' Memorial, to officially hoist the national flag at the Kapasia Government Pilot High School grounds, to hold a colorful parade with the participation of Thana Police, Ansar and students of various educational institutions, to welcome the brave freedom fighters with a red carpet and give special gifts at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, to hold discussions, poetry, painting competitions and to distribute prizes.

In addition, Milad and special prayers will be held at various religious institutions including the Upazila Parishad Complex Mosque, seeking forgiveness for the souls of the martyred freedom fighters.
