NCP Member Secretary Akhtar on Rana Plaxa tragedy : Those who do not give workers chance to speak up should not be given national positions

H.M. Sagar, Savar

Those who keep workers weak at work and  do not give them the opportunity to speak for them, should not be given national positions and positions of representation of the people, said Akhtar Hossain, Member Secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP).
He said these while joining the 13-24 Remembrance and Reforms workers' settlement program on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the Rana Plaza tragedy on Thursday  afternoon. Akhtar Hossain said, the NCP  wants to build a new political settlement in Bangladesh and will always stand by the workers and work for the workers to get their fair share in the new political settlement. He said, 'NCP has decided to form a workers' wing in the interests of the workers to protect the rights of the workers. We have already formed a coordinating committee. You will be called upon to speak on behalf of the hardworking workers of the country. To achieve their demands, you must contact the workers' wing of the National Citizens Party and join us. The workers' wing of the National Workers' Party is taking on the responsibility of presenting your statements to the statements of workers at all levels across the country. He vowed that groups like Sohel Rana will not be formed in Bangladesh to undermine the rights of the workers of Bangladesh by showing the power of political power. He further said that on April 24, National Workers' Day, all garment companies and all labor organizations should declare a general holiday. The government should submit a report on where the government has taken measures in the past 1 year. The list of risky labor environments and workplaces where measures have been taken should be made clear to the general workers and the public on April 24, National Workers' Day.
The NCP Member Secretary said, "Those who were martyred in the Rana Plaza incident, their families and the workers who were injured and disabled must be compensated. They must be brought under rehabilitation. Workers in Bangladesh are exhausted due to lack of medical treatment. I want to say from this rally that the government must establish a specialized hospital for workers."He said, "The terrorists who embezzled the workers' donation money in the Rana Plaza incident, whether they are individuals or NGO organizations, should be brought under the law and punished. The workers' donation money should be distributed fairly among the workers." Present at the time were Mazharul Islam Fakir, the chief coordinator of the Workers' Wing, local leaders and activists of the Workers' Wing, and leaders and activists of the Jatiya Nagorik Party."
