
National phase of Bangladesh AI Olympiad held

In order to keep pace with the future world, students of Bangladesh need to be proficient in new technologies including artificial intelligence. Participation in Olympiad is necessary to make school and college level students proficient in age-changing technologies for building Smart Bangladesh.
The guests expressed this opinion at the closing stage of the first Bangladesh AI Olympiad organized at the Information Technology Institute of Dhaka University on Saturday.
The chief guest of the programme is Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Sitesh Chandra said to Bachar students that there is no option to work in line with world standards without falling behind. Bangladesh will reach a new height in the world only if it can reach the marginal level of AI technology.
Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Dhaka University as a special guest. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu expressed hope that today's generation will find a new Bangladesh, will show the light of new hope.
In the morning, 45 students from all over the country and selected in the online selection phase solved four artificial intelligence problems in a four-hour long competition. Based on the results, total 10 students are selected for the national camp.

They are Chittagong Cantonment Public College Abrar Shahid and Misbah Uddin Inan, South Bridge School Adeeb Bin Qadir, Scholars School and College Ashabul Yamin Arjan, Fauzdarhat Cadet College Md. Manjum Rahman, Mohammad Saad of Manipur High School, Rafid Ahmed of Academia School, SM Sabib Abdullah of Mastermind English Medium School, Tauseef Wahid Suprav of St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School and Dhanmondi Govt. Arefin Anwar of Boys High School. From May 22 to May 25, four people will be selected through the national camp in Dhaka. The selected team will participate in the 1st International AI Olympiad to be held in Bulgaria on August 9-15, 2024.
Earlier, online programming contest and online grooming sessions were held with the selected students with the participation of registered students from all over Bangladesh. The winners of this live national phase will be held online for grooming session on 21-22 May and selection camp and international team selection test on 23-25 May.
The Bangladesh team will be finally selected by checking the performance of the students who participated in the camp as well as their intelligence skills. It is to be noted that BDOSN has been given the responsibility of country coordination to organize the Bangladesh phase of this prestigious competition to be held for the first time in Bulgaria on August 9-15, 2024. Through this opportunity is created for the boys and girls of high school in Bangladesh to participate in the International AI Olympiad.
Director of Information Technology Institute, BM Moinul Hossain, also spoke in the closing session, Vice President of BDOSN and Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department of Dhaka University. Lafifa Jamal, Reeve System Chief Commercial Officer Raihan Hossain, E-Generation PLC Director Imran Mohammad Abdullah, Bengali Language Enrichment Project Consultant Mamunur Rashid, A2I Policy Analyst Md Afzal Hossain Sarwar and BDOSN General Secretary Munir Hasan.
