In Rupganj, Narayanganj, a Jubo Dal leader named Shafiqul Islam has been accused of shooting and seriously injuring an old man named Shamsuddoha due to a previous enmity and for not paying the demanded 3 lakh taka.
The incident took place on Monday night in the Karnagop area of Tarab Municipality in the upazila.
The accused Shafiqul Islam is a candidate for the post of General Secretary of Tarab Municipality Jubo Dal and a former Joint General Secretary of District Chhatra Dal.

Rupganj Upazila Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Shakib and his people chased and chased and threw bricks and stones and a bloody clash took place between them and Upazila Jubo League Executive Member Ripon and his people, in order to expand their dominance in the area. In that incident, Jubo Dal leader Shafiqul Islam got involved in a clash on behalf of his nephew, Chhatra League leader Shakib. During this, Jubo Dal leader Shafiqul Islam was hacked and beaten up indiscriminately and seriously injured.
Since August 5, Jubo Dal leader Shafiqul Islam and his nephew have been demanding three lakh taka from the family of their opponent Ripon for compensation for the injuries sustained in the clash.
As a result, on Monday night, when Ripon could not be found, Shafiqul Islam and his nephew Shakib shot Ripon's maternal uncle Shamsuddoha alone. Later, he was rescued injured and taken to a local private hospital, where doctors sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The mobile phone used to contact the accused Jubo Dal leader Shafiqul Islam in this incident was found switched off.
In this regard, Rupganj Police Station (OC) Tariqul Islam said, "Police were sent to the scene after receiving information that an old man named Shamsuddoha had been shot." We are working to arrest the accused.
