Hatiya (Noakhali) Correspondent
Former Burirchar Union BNP general secretary Nizam Uddin Chowdhury held a press conference in Hatiya calling all the allegations against him 'false and motivated'.
In a written statement at a press conference held at the Upazila Muktijoddha Complex auditorium on Thursday morning, he claimed complete innocence. Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said,
"Recently, misleading news about me has been published in several national and local newspapers and online news portals. It has been said that I and my family members are involved in vandalizing and looting other people's houses.
In reality, neither I nor my family are involved in any way with these incidents. Such news is an attempt to humiliate me socially.
He said that a few days ago, his son was beaten up by a local group and seriously injured. The injured son was rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex. Later, as his condition was critical, he was quickly referred to Noakhali General Hospital.
After taking my son to the hospital, I filed a case with the police station myself. The accused have covered up their faces for fear of the case. However, the allegations are that I intimidated and threatened them. This allegation is completely false. They are my neighbors, so I tried to resolve the matter. But they covered up their faces themselves.
At the press conference, he requested journalists to reveal the real truth and publish objective news. Baseless and purposeful news tarnishes the reputation of a political figure and leads to social humiliation.
Former Upazila BNP office secretary Rafiq Uddin, former Freedom Fighters Affairs Secretary Abu Shahadat, Upazila Chhatra Dal member secretary Riaz Mahmud and other leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations were present at the time.
In addition, journalists from various print and electronic media working in Hatia covered the press conference.
