Green Nexus programme ends at DU : Emphasis on indigenous plantations

The 3-day program titled `Dhaka University Green Nexus–2026`, a joint initiative of Dhaka University Environment Council and Arboriculture Center, concluded on Thursday at the Central Gallery of the Department of Botany. Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani was present as the chief guest at the program.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Chief Advisor of the Dhaka University Environment Council and Director of the Arboriculture Center. Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment, Professor Dr. AHM Zulfiqar Ali, Chairman of the Department of Botany, Professor Dr. Asfaq Ahmed, and Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Sciences, Professor Dr. Md. Zakir Hossain Howlader spoke as special guests.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani emphasized on planting more indigenous species of trees to combat the increasing pollution in Dhaka city and said, not only planting trees, but also ensuring proper care and conservation of trees. He called on the students to play an effective role in preserving the environment and keeping the campus clean. He said, it is possible to turn the Dhaka University campus into a green and clean ideal campus through the collective efforts of everyone.
