
Factional clash of Jubo Dal : Houses attacked, motorbikes torched in Rupganj

A violent clash between two rival factions of the Jubo Dal broke out in Rupganj, Narayanganj, reportedly over political dominance, control of a fish enclosure, and a dispute regarding attendance at a Mohila Dal meeting.
The incident, which involved arson and looting, took place on Saturday night at Kendua (Mostapur) area in Ward No. 3 of Kanchan Municipality. At least four people from both sides were injured.
A written complaint regarding the incident has been lodged at Rupganj Police Station, police sources confirmed.
According to locals, a long-standing dispute existed between supporters of local Jubo Dal leaders Kawsar Mia and Badsha Mia over political influence and the possession of a fish enclosure. Tensions escalated earlier on Saturday after supporters of Kawsar Mia became angered when Badsha Mia allegedly failed to bring people to a Mohila Dal rally held at the Kanchan Bharat Chandra High School ground.
Later that night, both groups engaged in a violent chase and counter-chase. Several houses belonging to Badsha, Khokon, Tarikul, and Dalim were reportedly attacked, vandalized, and looted. In addition, two motorcycles were set on fire during the chaos.
Speaking about the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) Forhadul Islam, in charge of the Bholabo Investigation Center, said:, flowing the directive of the Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge, we rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. There was no negligence in police duties..
