Dilapidated roads char areas repaired at private initiative in Sarishabari

Mustak Ahamed Monir, Sarishabari (Jamalpur)

A muddy and pothole-filled road in the char area of Sarishabari, Jamalpur, has been repaired at a private initiative.

In the morning, considering the problem of people's movement from the West Malipara Khan Para intersection in Pogaldigha Union of the upazila to the house of the West Malipara Khalil shopkeeper, this road was repaired with the personal funds of Robayet Hossain Bipul Master, a teacher of the government primary school, son of Alhaj Abdul Latif of Malipara village.

Local sources said that due to recent heavy rains, the only road from West Malipara Khan Para intersection in Pogaldigha Union to West Malipara Khalil shopkeeper's house was blocked due to landslides at various places. This caused extreme hardship for locals in commuting, transporting agricultural products and offering prayers at mosques. When this matter came to the attention of Robayet Hossain Bipul, a teacher at Malipara Government Primary School, he informed Jamalpur District BNP President Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim.

Later, under the direction of Shamim Talukder, Bipul made the road passable by pouring bricks, sand and soil along with the locals. Present at the time were Upazila Jubo Dal member Mamun, Ward No. 1 Sramik Dal president Swapan Mia, former student leader Jamil Sarkar, locals Abdul Qaddus, Bijoy, Rahul, Rakib, Sumon,

Osman Ali and others. The villagers are happy with his humanitarian initiative. They said, "Although we have been demanding the repair of this road for years but have not received any government initiative, our expenses have been alleviated by the initiative of Bipul Master."

In this regard, Robayet Hossain Bipul Master said, "I came to know about the poor condition of this road in my area. Due to the heavy rain this time, it broke down in various places and traffic was stopped. Later, when I informed the matter to District BNP President Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim Bhai, on his instructions, I brought bricks, sand and soil with my own funds and repaired the road with the help of locals."
