Dhaka DC Farida Khanam brings smiles to disabled Maria

Staff Correspondent

Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Farida Khanam has extended a helping hand to Maria, a young woman waging a continuous life struggle against physical disabilities.

Maria visited the Deputy Commissioner's office and shared her helpless plight on Wednesday.

DC Farida Khanam listened to her attentively, provided immediate financial assistance, and assured her of ongoing support in the future.

"Standing by the most vulnerable people in society is not just an administrative duty; it is our moral responsibility," DC Khanam remarked. "We are working with utmost sincerity to ensure that special-needs individuals like Maria never feel alone. Putting smiles on people's faces is our greatest reward."

Overwhelmed by the unexpected support, Maria and her family became deeply emotional. Maria's mother, Mimi Begum, expressed her gratitude with tearful eyes, stating, "I have been to many places and asked many people for help. But the way DC Madam listened to us today, comforted us, and handed over the assistance herself is something we will never forget. May Allah keep her healthy and grant her the ability to do even more for people. The affection she has shown toward my daughter is our greatest strength."

This compassionate initiative by the Deputy Commissioner has drawn widespread praise from those present, with many noting that such sincerity and empathy toward the underprivileged further brighten the human face of public administration.
