An attack, vandalism, and looting incident took place at Shirin Garden, the only entertainment center in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali. Seven people, including a policeman, were injured in the attack, raising security concerns for visitors and staff at the center.
The attack occurred on Tuesday (April 1) at around 7 PM in Madhya Sundalpur village, Ward No. 6 of Sundalpur Union in Kabirhat Upazila. Two of the injured were admitted to a local hospital, while the others received primary treatment and were discharged.
The owner of the entertainment center, Siddiqui Nasir Uddin, stated that every year during Eid, a local teenage gang comes to the entertainment center, harasses visitors, and engages in snatching mobile phones and money. As in previous years, on Wednesday evening, several members of the teenage gang entered the entertainment center separately and began behaving recklessly. When the center’s staff and police attempted to remove them, they left. However, shortly afterward, 20-30 members of the gang regrouped and forcefully entered through the main gate, launching an attack and vandalizing the property. They also looted cash from the ticket counter. A police officer was injured while trying to stop them.
Nasir Uddin further mentioned that law enforcement authorities were immediately informed, and he demanded the swift arrest and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.
According to local sources, the attackers are affiliated with the student wing of the BNP. Several video clips of the attack have already gone viral on social media, particularly on Facebook. However, out of fear, the owner of the entertainment center refrained from mentioning any names.
When asked about the allegations, Kabirhat Upazila BNP President Kamrul Huda Chowdhury Liton said, "I have heard about the attack, but I do not have further details."
Kabirhat Police Station OC Md. Shaheen Mia said, a fight had taken place but noted that no written complaints had been filed yet. However, police managed to bring the situation under control.
