
869 shelters ready to face Cyclone 'Dana ' in Bhola

Bhola district administration has made extensive preparations to deal with Cyclone Dana. In the meantime, 869 shelters and 17 mud forts have been prepared in the district.
An emergency meeting of the Disaster Management Committee was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Wednesday at 12:30 pm.
Bhola Deputy Commissioner Azad Jahan said in the meeting that advance preparations have been made to deal with the storm. As part of which 98 medical teams have been formed. Besides this, the control room has been opened. At least 15 thousand volunteers including CPP and Red Crescent have been kept ready.
Besides, cash of Tk 9 lakh, 350 packets of dry food, baby food, cattle food and 500 tons of rice have been stored. District relief and rehabilitation officer Delwar Hossain said, we have made maximum preparations to deal with the cyclone. Multiple teams are ready. Minimize damage as much as possible. He said that 869 shelters, 17 mud forts have been prepared in the district.
Meanwhile, there has been rain across the district since 10:30 am. The residents of the coast are terrified. However, Moniruzzaman, the officer-in-charge of the District Meteorological Office, says that the cyclone may hit India's Orissa between Thursday evening and October 25 afternoon. It may cross the Bangladesh coast.
At present, the Meteorological Department has issued a local warning signal number 3 due to the impact of Bhola cyclone. As a result, fishing boats and trawlers in coastal areas have been asked to stay in safe shelter.
