
4 arrested over vandalism of Bata showroom, hotel in Gazipur

The arrests were made on Monday during a joint operation by the Army and Police, said Assistant Deputy Commissioner Hafizul Islam during a press briefing at Gacha Police Station on Tuesday. The arrestees were identified as Siam Khan (Anik), Shimul Ahmed Shaon, Shahin, and Joynal Abedin.
According to the police official, an anti-Israeli aggression march was held on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the Board Bazaar area on Monday. Taking advantage of the protest march, a group of miscreants carried out acts of sabotage, vandalism and looting at the Triti Hotel, Radhuni Hotel and Bata Company dealer, among other establishments.
Upon receiving information, local police reached the scene and, with the help of the army, dispersed the crowd and brought the situation under control. Afterwards, the video footage of the incidents was analysed, and operations were conducted in various areas.
Following this, Siam, Shimul Ahmed, Shahin, and Joynal were arrested with the combined efforts of the police and army, he saidA case was filed at Gacha Police Station over the matter.
The official also mentioned that efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest the instigators, planners, and supporters directly involved in the incident, he added.
