
Youth sentenced to prison in drug case in N’ganj

In a drug case under the Bandar Police Station in Narayanganj, a young man named Iqbal (36) has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by the court. Additionally, he has been fined 10,000 BDT, and in default of payment, he will have to serve an additional six months of simple imprisonment.
On Saturday , the verdict was announced by Judge Md. Aminul Haque of the 3rd Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court of Narayanganj in the presence of the accused. The convicted Iqbal is the son of Karim Mia from Purinda area of Araihazar, Narayanganj.
Confirming the verdict, Narayanganj Court Police Inspector Md. Kaiyum Khan said that the court sentenced Iqbal to 10 years in prison in a drug case under the Bandar Police Station. The accused was present in court when the verdict was announced.
Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Md. Nazrul Islam Masum said that on October 18, 2010, Iqbal was arrested by RAB-11 from the Keodala area of Bandar Upazila on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway with Phensedyl. Following this incident, a drug case was filed at the Bandar Police Station, and the court has now announced the verdict.
