Will return to own job after election, Yunus to The Economist

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has expressed his desire to return to his own profession after holding the 13th parliamentary election, likely to be held in late 2025 or early 2026.
He expressed his optimism on Saturday during an interview with The Economist, a newspaper published weekly in magazine format from London.
The British magazine conducted the interview to gather Yunus's reaction to Bangladesh’s recognition as The Economist's Country of the Year after the unceremonious end of the 15-year dictatorship.
The Awami League-led government met its utter fall in the face of the student-people movement on 5 August and Yunus formed an interim government on 8 August to take the country forward.
After forming an advisory council, he has undertaken some reform initiatives to bring changes in the state mechanism to address the forthcoming challenges on the way of the country's overall development.
Meanwhile, the country’s major political parties, including BNP and Jamaat have already extended their cooperation to the chief adviser to make his mission successful.
Amid the growing expectation for an election roadmap, while addressing that nation Yunus on 16 December said the next national election can be arranged in late 2025 or at first half of 2026.
Responding to a query on what will be done by you after the election, Yunus said, “My job has been snatched. I have also been brought here forcibly for this work. I was at my job and also enjoying it.”
“I was in Paris. From there, I have been brought here to do something else. I will feel happy if I can return to my regular job. I have dedicated my life to doing so. The youth also appreciates it. Therefore, I will return to my party or the movement I have championed globally,” he said.
Responding to another query over the emergence of militancy in Bangladesh, he said, “I am assuring that militancy will not raise its heads in Bangladesh because the young people are secular and they want to build a new Bangladesh. Not only Bangladesh, they can change the entire world.
