Will do whatever is necessary to be people's police: DMP

Staff Correspondent

Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) of DMP Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali today pledged to do whatever is required to be the people’s police.

"We don’t want to be oppressive police rather, want to be the people's police. For this, we will do whatever is necessary. We just want you (people) by our side,” he said."

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized by the Citizen Forum at a local community center in Kalabagan Thana area.

Shawkat said, "None of us are above accountability. Our accountability is to the people. Our accountability is how much security and service we can provide to you. We want to build this country beautifully with the support of you."

He said that people are one of the most supportive forces in controlling crime and maintaining the law and order.

“If that supportive force is by your side, controlling crimes will be much easier. You should keep an eye on whether there is a backup of CCTV in your home and institution. So that if any incident happens, we can take the help of that CCTV,” he said.

The meeting was attended by officials of various ranks of DMP's Ramna Division, leaders of various political, social, professional, religious organizations, heads of educational institutions and leaders of student movements.
