Whatever the government wants, it eventually comes through court's judgement, BNP senior joint secretary general Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said.

He made the remark while addressing a press conference organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Nayapaltan in the capital on Thursday (July 11) demanding information of whereabouts of missing Dhaka College JCD leader Atiqur Rahman Russel.

Addressing the prime minister on anti-quota movement, Rizvi said, "Didn't you issue circular stating that there would be no quota in government jobs? But, why the court did it? It appears to me that there is a telepathic relationship between the prime minister and court."

Rizvi said, "What Sheikh Hasina thinks eventually comes through court's judgements. Whatever the government wants, it comes through court verdicts. The innocent students have been taking to the street every day leaving their classes and examinations behind. Are they doing wrong? Are they doing something illegal?"

The BNP leader said, "We're now living under a mafia syndicate. Those who protest here, they are forced to disappear. The individuals who protest injustices of the government, their blood-stained bodies are found on the banks of rivers or canals or in drains."

He said, "Atiqur Rahman Russel is not among us today. All know that the law enforcing personnel picked him up. It was also appeared on newspapers. But, he has not yet been produced before court or returned to his family. We don't know where a boy who has lost his mother has gone, where he is sleeping, or lying, or confined to which Ayna Ghar."

The BNP senior joint secretary general alleged that the prime minister had created a situation to cover up state's misdeeds. She has been creating issues one after another. The state coffer is empty now. She sought US$20 billion from China, but got assurance of US$1 billion only."

The press conference was also attended by BNP's joint secretary general Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny, student affairs secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, JCD prewsident Rakibul Islam Rakib, general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, senior joint secretary Shyamal Malum, and organising secretary Aman Ullah Aman.
