Villagers` clash leaves one killed, several injured

A person was killed and several others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Charghat and Puthia upazilas of Rajshahi on Saturday (January 9).
The deceased was known as Rezaul Islam, 55, son of late Halim Uddin alias Hakim.
The clash took place between Shibpur of Charghat and Dighalkandi of Puthia upazila around 2:00pm. Meanwhile, the agitated villagers torched a motorcycle.
On information, police rushed to the spot and detained two youths from the spot.
Locals said, some youths of Dighalkandi took a motorcycle from Shibpur forcefully. There was tension among villagers following the issue. Locals gathered calling people using the microphones of the mosques. At one stage, they locked into a clash, leaving the person injured. Later, he was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died under treatment.
Charghat police station OC Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter.
