Van driver killed in road accident in Satkhira

An old van driver named Md Quddus Gazi (71) was killed after being crushed by the wheels of a truck in Binerpota area of Satkhira. The incident took place near Binerpota market on Satkhira-Khulna highway under Sadar upazila around 6:30 am on Friday (May 17).
Locals said that the deceased van driver Md. Quddus Gazi (71) was the son of the deceased Rupchand Gazi of Binerpota village of Satkhira Sadar Upazila.
Eyewitness Sanjay Kumar, a fish trader in Binerpota market, said that Quddus Gazi took a van to transport passengers every day after offering Fajr prayers. Quddus Gazi was sitting on the van near Binerpota Bazar and sitting on the van at around 6:30am on Friday morning.
At that time, a speeding truck from Satkhira to Khulna ran over him. Quddus Gazi was rescued in critical condition and taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Mahidul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident.
