USAID trade activity supports smart RJSC system for streamlined business registration in Bangladesh

The Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) hosted a stakeholder consultation workshop on May 23rd, 2024, at Hotel Holiday Inn Dhaka to validate the smartRJSC system, a cutting-edge platform designed to transform company registration processes in Bangladesh with the relevant government and private sector stakeholders. The initiative is supported by the USAID-funded Feed the Future Bangladesh Trade Activity.

The workshop brought together industry leaders, government officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh Bank, Export Promotion Bureau, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, and key business stakeholders. The smartRJSC system promises to streamline company registration for both the RJSC and its users, reducing time, costs, and complexity. It will enhance user experience with features like automation, data verification, and transparency. Shareholder rights and a paperless environment are also priorities.

Mr. Ahsanul Islam Titu, MP, State Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, served as the chief guest in the workshop. Mr. Md. Selim Uddin, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, joined the event as a special guest. Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman NDC, Registrar, RJSC, chaired the proceedings and reaffirmed RJSC's unwavering commitment to driving impactful changes within Bangladesh's business landscape.

The State Minister shared his optimistic remarks about the smartRJSC system, “Our smartRJSC system will be ready by this year. By this, we will contribute to our Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041. I request the users of this system to come forward and share their valuable suggestions so that we can make it even better. I also request the Trade Activity and other associations to arrange more workshops so that we can have more discussions on this and develop the system.”

Mohammad Sayed Shibly, Project Management Specialist, USAID Bangladesh remarks,2 “This system is an important tool for improving economic governance. Supporting implementation of the smart RJSC system is part of USAID’s commitment to supporting a more free economy and helping to unleash the dynamism of Bangladesh’s entrepreneurs.”
The stakeholder consultation workshop marks a crucial milestone towards the implementation of the smartRJSC system. By incorporating feedback and prioritizing a user-centric design, the platform is poised to streamline company registration processes and contribute to the development of a more vibrant business ecosystem in Bangladesh.

The Feed the Future Bangladesh Trade Activity supports the Government of Bangladesh in bolstering economic growth and food security by improving trade facilitation, enhancing market access, and improving the business enabling market.

The Activity provides technical assistance, training, institutional strengthening, and other direct support to the Government of Bangladesh and non-governmental partners, promoting greater collaboration among the government, private sector, and civil society organizations.
