US objects to efforts to harass journalists: Miller

US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has said his country objects to any efforts to harass or intimidate journalists to prevent them from conducting their important work.
He made the comments at the State Department press briefing on Monday.
When asked about the Bangladesh Police Service Association’s “threatening statement aimed at media outlets reporting on police corruption”, Miller said, “We strongly support the role of a free and independent media in maintaining effective democratic institutions and promoting government transparency.
“We object to any efforts to harass or intimidate journalists to prevent them from conducting their important work,” he said.
