UNOPS delegation meets Palak
A five-member delegation led by United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Regional Director for Asia Sanjay Mathur today paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak at ICT tower in the city's Agargaon here today.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed various issues including overall progress of ICT sector and ICT infrastructure of Bangladesh, said a press release said.
They expressed their interest in enhancing partnership and cooperation in infrastructure development on behalf of the UNOPS in the field of infrastructure and procurement in the ICT sector of Bangladesh.
The state minister hoped that the cooperation of UNOPS will be expanded in the coming days.
Noting that the economy of Bangladesh is now very strong, the members of the delegation said that Bangladesh has already made unprecedented progress in education, health, communication and other sectors including ICT.
Resources are not important for the development of any country but skilled manpower, strong institutions, innovative ideas and acceleration are very necessary, they added.
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director Mohammad Rezaul Karim, Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Ranajit Kumar, Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited (BDCCL) Managing Director Zohra Begum, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Directors Syed Zahurul Islam and Md Tabibur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Startup Bangladesh Limited (SBL) Sami Ahmed and Country Manager at UNOPS Sudhir Muralidharan were also present, among others, on the occasion.
