Two more die from heat wave in Chuadanga

Two more fatalities were recorded on Monday due to the ongoing severe heatwave in Chuadanga.

With this, a total of four people died in the heat wave in the district, which has been recording the country’s highest temperature at the district level over the last couple of days.

Both the deceased were residents of Beguarkhal village in Nagdah union of Alamdanga upazila.

They were identified as Ashura Khatun, 25, wife of Anwar Hossain and Ayesha Begum, 70 wife of late Akkas Ali.

Locals and family sources reported that Ashura was heading to the field with meals for her husband, Anwar, who was working there around 9:30 am. The woman suddenly collapsed to the ground after stumbling on the land aisle. She died on the spot. Farmers working in the field rushed Ashura’s body to the village. Ashura had a 7-year-old daughter.

An hour later, in another incident, Ayesha Begum passed away at 10:30 am. She had been unwell due to the intense heat of the past few days.

Rashedul Islam, a local doctor present at the scene, informed reporters that Ayesha Begum had become ill due to the recent intense heat.

The doctor thinks both died of heat stroke.
