Two klled in head-on collision between autorickshaw, truck in Chakaria

Two passengers of a CNG-run autorickshaw were killed on the spot in a head-on collision with a truck on the Surajpur-Yangcha road in Chakaria, Cox's Bazar.
The accident occurred around 11:30 pm on Friday on the eastern side of the Surajpur Bridge in the upazila, confirmed Chakaria Police Station OC Md. Shafiqul Islam.
The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam (30), son of the late Afzal Ahmed from Jiddabazar area of Laksharchar Union in the upazila, and Mohammad Kaisar (35), son of Kofil Uddin from Fozu Miaji Bari in Diyar Char area of Purba Bara Veyola Union.
OC Md. Shafiqul Islam stated that on Friday around 10:30 pm, the CNG-run autorickshaw was returning to Chakaria with passengers from Lama Upazila Parishad. At around 11:30 pm, as the autorickshaw reached the eastern side of the Surajpur Bridge area, it skidded while passing by a pile of construction stones on the road and collided head-on with a recklessly speeding truck coming from the opposite direction. At that moment, two passengers in the autorickshaw died on the spot. The driver and other passengers were seriously injured.
Upon receiving news of the accident, police arrived at the scene, rescued the injured, and admitted them to the hospital. The bodies of the two deceased youths were handed over to their families.
