
Teacher hacked to death, attacker killed in mob beating, panic grips Tala village

A brutal incident shook Shahapur village under Khesra Union in Tala upazila of Satkhira on Sunday at around 4:30 PM, when a local madrasa teacher named Shariful Gazi (38) was brutally killed in front of his own educational institution.
Former chairman of Khesra Union, SM Liaquat Hossain, stated that Shariful Islam, son of late Maulana Alimuddin Gazi of Harihar village, was called out to the front of the madrasa by Raju Gazi (36), son of Mostafa alias Khokon Gazi from the same village. Locals reported that Raju had been mentally unstable for a long time.
Soon after calling him outside, Raju suddenly attacked the teacher with a locally made sharp weapon, hacking him multiple times. Shariful died on the spot.
Hearing his screams, nearby residents rushed to the scene, captured Raju, and began to beat him. In a matter of moments, the enraged crowd beat him to death on the spot.
Upon receiving the news, a team from Tala Police Station arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mainuddin confirmed, “Both bodies have been recovered and sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for autopsy. A detailed investigation is underway.”
The incident has cast a shadow of grief and fear across the entire area. The killing of the teacher has left colleagues, students, and locals in deep shock. A tense and somber atmosphere currently prevails in Shahapur village.
