Several tea estate officials and employees in Sylhet staged a protest rally and work stoppage on Thursday morning to protest against the day-long hostage-taking of Kalagul tea estate officials and employees.

At 10:30 in the morning in the protest rally in front of Khadimnagar Burjan tea garden factory, the speakers said that we all work under the instructions of the tea garden workers, owners and superior officials.

Just as the tea workers are owed their salaries, so too are the salaries of office workers, accountants, medical assistants, etc. But why the office workers were held hostage by the black tea workers on Wednesday by cutting off the electricity in the office, we want justice and a fair solution.

President of Bangladesh Tea Estate Staff Association North Sylhet Region Abdul Malik Shamim spoke in the protest and strike, Belal Ahmed Chowdhury-2nd Half Ridhapardtu, Ishabats, Prasun Kanti Talukdar on behalf of Kalagul Bagan, Burjan Bagan Head Tilababu Chayan Kumar Deb , Tilababu Ajidur Reza, Burjan Head Office Accountant Apu Mohapatra attend the protest Rally.

During the work break,Abdus Sabur Khan, General Manager of Burjan Chabagan came and assured to take all measures to solve the existing situation. He was present with him at that time.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the tea workers in Kalagul tea garden locked the office workers in their office and cut off the electricity. In protest, the employees of several gardens, including Burjan, held a protest rally and strike in solidarity with the hostage-taking officers and employees of Kalagul Garden.
