Shubashish Kumar Biswas, Headmaster of Mirpur Dhaka's traditional educational institution Model Academy, has been selected as the best institution head in Bangladesh in the national level competition marking the National Education Week-2023 held at Government Laboratory High School.

He was born in a noble Biswas family of North Kachua village of Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah district.

After passing SSC from Benipur High School in 1983 and HSC with merit from Rajbari Government College in 1985, he got admission in Dhaka University in 1985-86 session and received Honors and Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics from Mathematics Department.

In addition to his BED and MAd degrees, he received professional training in capacity building from Kassart University, Thailand and from the College of Wellington, New Zealand. His wife Shipra Majumder is also engaged in teaching profession.

His only son Soumav Biswas is currently working in Siemens Bangladesh after receiving his bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and only daughter Shreya Biswas is studying Computer Science and Engineering at Brack University.

He joined Model Academy as Assistant Teacher in 1996. Since 2014, he has been serving as the head teacher. Since assuming the responsibility of the headmaster, he has introduced all kinds of co-curricular programs to develop students in quality education by implementing new curriculum along with infrastructure development of the school.

The school has 3 6 storied buildings, auditorium, multimedia class room, 3 computer labs, library, clean wash room, fresh water system through rain water purification, fire protection system, elevator, substation, spacious playground with basketball, badminton court, volleyball court.

To inspire the new generation in the Liberation War, “Hridye Bangabandhu and Liberation War Corner” has been installed in the school and the walls of the school are adorned with murals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and murals of language movement. The school has Moral Education Club, Debate Club, Sahitya Sangsad, Pathakchakra Club, Music Club, to make the students smart citizens of the developed world by awakening the sense of patriotism among the students.

Art Club, Mathematics Club, Chess Club, English Club, Science Club etc. The school has a 3500 square feet rooftop garden which was praised by Shaikh Siraj in Channel I's “Heart of Soil and Man” programme.

In 2020, due to the strong role of Shubashish Biswas during the corona period, North Tolarbagh, the first corona affected area of Bangladesh, became a role model of corona prevention and lock down.

During the corona period, the education of students of 1st to 10th class through Zoom apps, as well as communication with parents and taking exams through Google apps, treatment of parents and students affected by corona. The matter of helping and standing by the victim was praised by various mass media at that time.

It should be noted that the school has been recognized as the best educational institution in Mirpur Shiksha Thana 5 times in a row. Headmaster Subhashish Kumar Biswas was awarded the title of Best Institution Head at the National Education Week in 2018. In 2023 Model Academy won the second position in Rabindra Sangeet, the school student with the best head teacher at the national level.
