Rangpur Correspondent

SPGRC-Bangladesh, an organization of Urdu speakers living in Bangladesh at the end of the 3-day long 17th council session, announced the dissolution of SPGRC-Bangladesh central committee and all the branch committees across Bangladesh. Shaukat Ali and general secretary Harun-or-Rashid were nominated and approved by the 35-member central committee.

Also, a convening committee consisting of 5 members was formed for the reorganization of the branch committees. It is directed to form a full committee within a week.

This information was given by the former general secretary of the executive council M. Former Deputy General Secretary Harun-or-Rashid on behalf of Shaukat Ali.

Haroon-or-Rashid said in a press conference that the 17th council session was held at the Rangpur Zilla Parishad Community Center on September 23. Bangladesh Awami League president and former LGED state minister Adv. Jahangir Kabir Nanak and other leaders. The second and third days of the session were held on September 24 and 25 at Pansi Community Centre and ended on 25 September 2022 Sunday.

In this 3-day council session, the leading representatives of the organization at the local level in 13 districts of Bangladesh participated. The leaders who participated in the council took several decisions regarding the determination of future organizational plans and activities with the aim of ensuring the basic rights of Urdu speakers living in Bangladesh and recognizing them as citizens.

He also said in the press conference that Hon'ble Prime Minister Jannetri Sheikh Hasina, during her visit to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on 06-11-2021, directed Biharis living in camps to be shifted to convenient places considering the unhealthy environment, housing facilities, security risks and humanitarian issues. On 18/04/2015 he assured the meeting with the delegation of SPGRC-Bangladesh on full housing of Biharis and most recently on 06/11/2022 he expressed his determination to improve the quality of life of Biharis in an event Ganobhaban with Dhaka North City Corporation.

In the light of his hope, we want recognition of citizenship, civil privileges (fundamental rights). The resettlement process with self-respect should be started quickly with confirmation. Until Biharis are fully settled in Bangladesh, the Prime Minister's father, the world-renowned leader Bangabandhu Shaheed Sheikh Mujbir Rahman, called for maintaining all the facilities for the Biharis, including electricity, water and security in camps.

In this press conference. Also, in all the districts including Khalishpur (Khulna), Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, those who migrated from India after the partition of the country, housing was constructed and allocated. Which came under the purview of the government as an abandoned agreement after the independence of Bangladesh.

All those housing units are still occupied by descendants (children, brothers, sisters or other family members) of the original allottees. A special request is made to bring the houses of that housing under Bihari full housing program by allocating them for free or at low cost. All the camps across the country which are under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Railway, KDA, Housing Estate, City Corporation, Union Parishad and other administrations are urged not to evacuate all the camps.

It was decided to submit/submit the decisions taken in the 17th Council immediately to the government and if no assurance is received from the government within 15 days of the submission, then SPGRC-Bangladesh will take more effective and strong movement.
