Solving the problem of diabetic patient in Mahe Ramadan

Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed

Fasting during the month of Ramadan is obligatory for every adult male and female. But while doing this obligatory work, most of the time diabetics get into trouble. Because at this time they have to change their diet and medication schedule. And because of the change, there is an imbalance between their body's calories and drugs.

This can cause blood sugar levels to rise and fall suddenly. And this is exactly why diabetes patients need to be pre-prepared and trained to fast during Ramadan.

Problems faced by diabetic patients during fasting:- Diabetic patients face various problems due to fasting. According to various studies, the level of hypoglycemia in the body of diabetic patients increases during the month of Ramadan. Dehydration is the main reason for not eating for a long time. Hypoglycemia caused by hot and humid weather and strenuous exercise can lead to dehydration due to excessive urination. Along with this, the amount of electrolytes in the body can also decrease. As a result, various complications may occur, including fainting, falls and broken bones.

What diabetic patients should do in Ramadan:- As a first preparation, diabetic patients should know whether their body is suitable for fasting or not. If the sugar level in the body is uncontrolled ie severe hypoglycemia or hypoglycemia, ketoacidosis or severe hyperglycemia within three months then fasting should not be done.

Apart from diabetes, it is better not to fast even if you are suffering from other physical problems like liver problems, heart problems and kidney problems. However, pregnant diabetics and patients undergoing dialysis will also be included in this listFasting is safe for others who are controlling their glucose through diet and exercise alone, or who take metformin, DPP4 inhibitors, or the glitazone class of drugs.
There is some risk in those who use insulin or medications. In this case, they must know the dose and timing of the new medicine. Besides, the amount of food will be according to the doctor's advice

Dietary habits of diabetic patients:- During the month of Ramadan, the caloric requirements of diabetic patients will remain the same as before. At this time only food intake and time will change slightly. Isabgul bhushi, tokma, lemon raw mango or tamarind syrup with alternative sugar in Iftar is beneficial for these patients. It is better not to consume other sweet fruit juice except dab. However, both sour and sweet fruit salads can be eaten. It will fill the deficiency of mineral salts and vitamins. Besides, a mixture of ginger, tomato paste, mint leaves and salt can be eaten with raw chickpeas. Raw chickpeas help reduce blood cholesterol and relieve constipation.

Evening meal (after Iftar) should not be omitted at all. Of course, you should eat less. Diabetic food in Ramadan will be equivalent to dinner at other times. The patient can eat rice but should always keep a careful eye on the amount of food allotted by the doctor. Cooked in light spices, any small and large fish and vegetables can be eaten regularly.

Have bread or rice as per your taste in sehri (breakfast). The quantity of Sehri meal should be the same as the lunch of the other day. Sehri can contain fish and vegetables. It is better to have either milk or dal. Do not eat too much at Iftar and divide the food in stages. It will not increase the blood sugar level suddenly.

Medicines and insulin:- Along with the change in meal times in the month of Ramadan, the dose and schedule of medicines and insulin will also change. And of course, with the advice of an experienced doctor, you should change the time of day medicines and take them at night. Because the dosage of the medicine depends a lot on the amount of sugar in the blood. And precisely because of this, the medication schedule cannot be changed on its own. Must consult a doctor.

Exercise:- It is well known that exercise is very important for diabetic patients. And among those who exercise and walk regularly every day. This month they must change that routine too. Exercise and walking too much cannot be done while fasting. But you can exercise one hour after Iftar and before Sehri.

Symptoms of Diabetes: Frequent urination is the most common problem faced by diabetic patients. As a result, the fluid in the body decreases and thirst for more water. On the other hand, a condition of 'cellular starvation' is created in the body of people suffering from diabetes. As a result, the body sends a message to the brain that it is hungry. That is why diabetic patients are always hungry. They lose weight despite eating a lot. Tiredness surrounds you all the time. If a wound forms anywhere, it does not want to heal easily. Attacks of various skin diseases increase. Sexual ability gradually decreases in people with diabetes.

Weight is very important for diabetic patients. If the weight is high, it must be reduced through diet and exercise. Avoid sugary and sweet foods. Foods containing fiber should be included in the diet. It is best to follow a diet plan. If a person is taking insulin or other medications regularly, meals should be taken regularly. Because if you skip a meal, its reaction can be severe. If you live a healthy and regular life, diabetes can be controlled. Today, diabetes has taken a terrible shape. For this reason, it is essential to spread awareness among all. Because awareness can keep us away from this horror.

Homeopathy: Treats the patient not the disease. For this, if an experienced homeopath can select the complete symptoms of a diabetic patient and give metal treatment, then by the grace of God it is possible through homeo treatment. In the beginning, all the medicines that are selected by experienced doctors are Abroma Augusta, Cephalanda Indica, Syggium, Acid Phos, Arsenic Bromide, Acid Lactic, Uranium Nitre, Nux Preo, Acid Acetic, Calcarea Phos and many other medicines can come on the symptoms. Therefore, if the medicine is used on its own without an experienced doctor, the disease can reach a more complicated form. Therefore, diabetic patients must be aware of the daily food in the month of Ramadan to keep the body healthy.
