People of Kagashura village in Sadar Upazila of Barishal seized two trucks full of documents on suspicion of holding secret documents of the Bangladesh Secretariat and they informed Kaunia Police Station. The police came and seized the two trucks.

Later, it was learned that there were no secret documents of the Secretariat in the two trucks, but old documents of the Barisal Department of Education and Engineering. In an instant, the secret documents of the Secretariat were spread on social media that they had been seized in Barishal.

Journalists' investigation revealed that these were old documents of the Department of Education and Engineering from 1992. What has been spread on social media about the secret documents of the Secretariat is really misleading information and rumors.

Shahidul Islam, Executive Engineer of the Department of Education and Engineering, Barisal, said that many years old documents, along with some broken wooden furniture of the office, were sent to a dump in the Kaunia area to be burned. But the truck driver wanted to sell these goods. Due to this, the locals became suspicious when they went elsewhere instead of going to the spot. As a result, when they seized the two trucks, he himself went and convinced them and brought the trucks to the office.

Kaunia Police Station-Police said that people in the area seized the two trucks at around 7:30 pm on Friday. Later, officials from the Department of Education Engineering went there. The trucks were released to them at around 9:30 pm. Shahidul Islam, Executive Engineer of the Department of Education Engineering, Barishal, arrived at the spot and gave a written report and took the two trucks away in the presence of the police and local public representatives.

Kaunia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Anisur Rahman, who was present at the time, confirmed the matter.

Former Chairman of Charbaria Union Parishad (UP) Ziaul Islam said that the two trucks were moving suspiciously in the area after last Friday evening. Local people became suspicious after seeing a large amount of official papers. Later, they seized the two trucks.
