Six armed robbers held with machetes, knives in Sylhet city during robbery attempt

Sylhet Metropolitan Police arrested six members of a professional robbery gang in possession of machetes, knives, and sharp weapons while they were preparing to commit a robbery in the city.
The arrests were made during a block raid around midnight on Saturday in the Kastaghar area of Sylhet city.
The detainees are: Nazim Uddin, son of Yunus Mia from ITpara, Faridganj, Chandpur, Swapon Ahmed, son of Kalai Mia from Beter Bazar, Kotwali, Sylhet, Kawser Ahmed, son of Shahjahan Mia from Pathantula Residential Area, Jalalabad, Sylhet, Shuvo Ahmed, son of Hossain Mia from Silam Majpara, Moglabazar, Sylhet, Raju Mia, son of Shamim Mia from Haripur, Shayestaganj, Habiganj and Dagar Mia, son of Abdus Salam from Bajitpur (Nandina), Bajitpur, Kishoreganj
Confirming the arrest, SMP Media Officer Mohammad Saiful Islam said a team led by SI Ebadullah, in-charge of the Bandarbazar police outpost, carried out a night-long block raid and successfully captured six gang members. However, 7 to 8 other accomplices managed to flee the scene.
During the operation, police recovered four knives, one sharp machete (ramda), and another sharp weapon from the arrestees' possession.
