National Sanitation Month (October)-2022 and World Hand Washing Day-2022 was celebrated keeping the slogan 'Let's be united in hand hygiene' in Nakal Upazila of Sherpur district on Sunday.

On the occasion, a colorful rally, discussion meeting was held and distribution of hand sanitizers among all teachers and more than 660 students of Pathakata High School of the upazila.

The programmes were organized by Pathakata High School and in collaboration with the BRAC's wash program.

Pathakata High School's head master ABM Benazir Ahmed led the rally. The rally started from the front of the school and circumambulated the important roads of the area.

The assistant teacher Faridul Alam, Md Sakhawatullah, Sabina Yasmin, Mir Motaleb Hossain Shipon, Md Borhan Uddin, Feroz Ahmed, Md Asaduzzaman, Tofail Ahmed, Faridul Islam, Israt Jahan, Nahid Sultana of the school were present at the front of the rally.

Office assistant Abdul Jalil, lab assistant Manohar Mahmud Milon and other teachers-employees, more than six hundred students and officials-employees of different levels of BRAC's wash program participated in the rally.

At the end of the rally, a short discussion meeting to raise awareness and hand sanitizer distribution programs were organized by the Pathakata High School. ABM Benazir Ahmed, head master of Pathakata High School presided over the program. Teachers and students spoke at the awareness meeting.

Finally, with the funding of BRAC, hand sanitizer packets were distributed to all teachers and more than 660 students of the school.

On the other hand, a rally and a short discussion meeting were held jointly organized by the upazila administration and the Directorate of Public Health and Engineering.

Upazila Chairman Shah Md Borhan Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Bulbul Ahmed, Assistant Public Health Engineer Romman Ara Jannat, Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Romana Yasmin, many others officials and employees of different departments of the upazila, teachers and students of local educational institutions and journalists of different media were present.
