Golam Azam Saikat, BNP's nomination aspirant for Jhalakati-1 (Rajapur-Kantalia) constituency and former central student leader, has distributed leaflets and held a mass rally in Rajapur, Jhalakati to implement BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's 31-point program of state reforms.
On Thursday (October 9) morning, they distributed leaflets to shopkeepers, school students and pedestrians in various areas including Uttampur Bazar, Kacharibari Bazar, Chunpuri Bazar and Badnikathi Bazar, Baghri Bazar in Baraiya and Mathbari unions of Rajapur upazila and sought votes using the BNP symbol 'Sheaf of Rice'.
During the mass communication, Golam Azam Saikat said,
"In the last 16 years, there was no opportunity to exercise the right to vote in the country. This time, we are optimistic that the people will be able to choose their representatives through fair elections. We have taken to the field to create that environment."
He further said, "The current state crisis can only be resolved through the implementation of the 31-point program announced under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. This program outlines the establishment of democracy, transparency, and accountable governance."
Golam Azam Saikat further said, "We have been trying to free this country from tyranny and misrule through a long movement and struggle. Numerous leaders and activists have been sent to prison on false charges of disappearance, murder and torture. Yet we have not given up. Now is the time to rebuild the country, end corruption, injustice and misrule and restore the people's voting rights."
He called for unity among the people in the upcoming elections for the sake of the rice paddy. Rajapur and Kathalia are known as BNP strongholds—I have come not just to seek votes, but with a pledge to stand by the people in the movement to establish their rights.”
Finally, Golam Azam Saikat prayed for the good health and long life of the national leader Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and greeted the leaders, activists and the general public present on their behalf.
Leaders and activists of various BNP branches and affiliate organizations including Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, Sramik Dal at the upazila, union and ward levels were present. They exchanged views with the general public and highlighted various aspects of state reforms.
It is worth noting that the 31-point program announced by the BNP includes promises to reform the electoral system, independence of the judiciary, freedom from party influence in the administration, anti-corruption measures, and ensuring civil rights.
