Robbers shot father, son to death in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent

A man and his son were shot to death reportedly by a group of armed robbers at Ramu upazila in Cox's Bazar district early Monday.

The incident took place around 1am on Monday at Thoangakata Ghonarpara under the upazila. The deceased were identified as Jafar Alam, 52, son of late Nurul Islam, and his son Mohammad Selim, 33, both were residents of the aforesaid area.

Locals said some robbers came to the house of Jafar Alam to steal cows. When they resisted, the robbers opened fire on them, leaving Jafar Alam and his son dead on the spot, he said.

On the other hand, Abu Taher Dewan, officer-in-charge of Ramu Police Station, alleged that there was a dispute between two groups over establishing dominance and that dispute might have lead to the killing.

However, police have recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.

Legal actions will be taken in this regard, added the OC.
