Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s visit to Mumbai took a sporty turn on Sunday as he participated in a game of tennis ball cricket at the historic Parsee Gymkhana.

Sharing a moment from his trip, Sunak posted a photograph on X (formerly Twitter), where he could be seen holding a bat while onlookers watched.

"No trip to Mumbai is complete without a game of tennis ball cricket," he wrote in the caption.

Dressed in a white shirt, black trousers, and sports shoes, the former Prime Minister took to the crease as a mix of bodyguards, children, and ground staff observed the game. Sunak, an ardent cricket enthusiast, appeared at ease as he faced deliveries on the renowned ground.

During his visit, Sunak addressed the crowd gathered for Parsee Gymkhana’s anniversary celebrations. He praised the institution’s deep-rooted history and its continued contribution to Mumbai’s cricketing culture.

"It's amazing to be here, celebrating such a historic institution. So much history, and so much to look forward to. I managed not to get out too many times this morning," he remarked.

Established in 1885 with Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy as its first president and Jamsetjee Tata as chairman, the Parsee Gymkhana has been a cornerstone of Mumbai’s cricketing legacy.

Located along Marine Drive, the club has played a vital role in nurturing generations of cricketers and remains a revered venue for the sport’s enthusiasts.

Sunak’s India visit has been eventful. A day before his cricket outing, he attended the Jaipur Literature Festival alongside Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy.

A video of Sunak at the festival went viral on social media, showing him greeting the crowd with folded hands as an anchor welcomed him on stage.

His participation in both events highlights his enduring connection with India and his fondness for its culture and traditions.
