Foreign exchange reserves in Bangladesh are gradually increasing. Currently, foreign exchange is now above 20 billion dollars and on the other hand, remittances of 3 billion dollars have come in the last five months, said Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur.

He told this reporters at the inauguration of the 400th branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC at the auditorium in Ghatail Upazila of Tangail on Saturday afternoon.

He said that although 10 banks were on the verge of bankruptcy at the beginning, they have now turned around. The fact that the banks have turned around is the big thing. He also expressed hope that they will not fall again.

The Bangladesh Bank Governor said that Islami Bank has made extensive development from the state it was in and is now at the top and is about to establish international standards.

Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC Chairman Obaid Ullah Al Masud presided over the inaugural ceremony, and Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC Chairman of the Executive Committee Md. Abdul Jalil, Risk Management Committee Chairman Prof. Dr. M Masud Rahman, Audit Committee Chairman Md. Abdus Salam, FCA FCS and Independent Director Mohammad Khurshid Wahab spoke as special guests. The keynote address on welfare-oriented banking was presented by Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdus Salam, Member Secretary of the Bank's Sharia Supervisory Committee. Muhammad Monirul Moula, Managing Director of the Bank, delivered the welcome speech at the beginning.

Officials of the Bank's head office and various branches, local businessmen, well-wishers and local dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
