Religious Adviser says : Govt keeps door open for NCP to join July Charter
Savar Correspondent.
Religious Affairs Ministry Adviser Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain has said that although the National Citizen Party (NCP) did not sign the July Charter today, the party will have the opportunity to join later.
Speaking to journalists on Friday evening after attending the Buddhist Kathin Chibor Donation Ceremony at the Bon Bihar Temple in Baipail, Ashulia, Savar, Dr. Khalid Hossain made the remarks.
Dr. Khalid Hossain said, “The government will consider the demands made by the NCP regarding the July Charter. Discussions are ongoing on how to reach an understanding with them. Those who could not sign today will be able to sign later.”
He further said, “Advisers do not need any ‘safe exit’. I don’t know whom NCP Convener Nahid Islam meant by ‘safe exit’. I was a university teacher; I have no house or property in Dhaka or Chattogram, and I have no intention of living abroad. This country is mine.”
Dr. Hossain added, “We took responsibility during a very critical time when nothing was stable. Now things are largely in order. Over the last 15 months, we have worked hard to restore stability in the country. In February 2026, we aim to hold a free, fair, and neutral national election, hand over power to the elected representatives, and then step aside.”
Ashulia Police OC Abdul Hannan, along with members of the local administration and representatives of the Buddhist community, were also present at the event.
