In 2022, the High Court declared reorganization of the board of trustees of the private North South University illegal by dissolving the board of 12 members.
The High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Shashank Shekhar gave the order on Tuesday. Advocate Imam Hussain Sidney heard on behalf of the writ in the court.
Earlier in 2022, the government dissolved the Board of Trustees of the private North South University and reconstituted a new board of 12 members. Seven members of the old board of trustees were not retained on the new board.
The government dissolved the 16-member board of trustees on charges of corruption, anti-state activities and sponsorship of militancy. The Ministry of Education issued an order regarding the reorganization of the Board of Trustees.
Outgoing Board Chairman Azim Uddin Ahmed and members Benazir Ahmed, Aziz Al Qaiser, MA Kashem, Rehana Rahman, Mohammad Shahjahan and Nurul H Khan were left out of the reconstituted Board of Trustees.
