Quality education, research needed to reach BRUR to top world ranking : VC

Begum Rokeya University Rangpur Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shawkat Ali said that to bring BRUR to single digits in the rankings, quality and up-to-date research activities are needed.

This university will be brought forward in international rankings through education and research. For this, the cooperation of all concerned, including teachers and students is required.

He said this as the chief guest in a seminar titled 'How Salinity Hazards Are Shaping Coastal Communities in Bangladesh' in the virtual classroom of the university's Academic Building 2 on Wednesday morning.

The Vice Chancellor said that the topic of the seminar is very significant for the southern coastal areas of the country. Every year, salinity in the soil of this region is increasing due to the adverse effects of climate change. Due to which the people of this area are facing various losses. He also expressed hope that such research will play a positive role in reducing security risks.

Director of the Disaster Management E-Learning Center of BRUR The seminar was chaired by Dr. Abu Reza Toufiqul Islam and was attended by Dr. Emdadul Haque (Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences), and Mostafizur Rahman (Head of the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences).

The seminar was moderated by Md. Masuder Rahman (Deputy Director of the Disaster Management E-Learning Center), and Dr. Md. Abdur Rakib (Associate Professor of the Disaster Management Department) presented the keynote address. Teachers and students of the two departments of the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences participated in the seminar.
