Housing and Public Works Minister war wounded freedom fighter RAM Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury MP inaugurated the three-day Agricultural Technology Fair-2024 jointly organized by the Upazila Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension at Shibchar Upazila Parishad Square in Madaripur on Saturday. .

He inaugurated the fair organized at the Upazila Parishad square. The fair is being held under the agricultural development project of Barisal, Patuakhali, Bhola, Jhalkathi, Barguna, Madaripur and Shariatpur districts. 33 stalls from different places participated in the fair. This fair will continue till July 15. The fair will be open to public from 9 am to 10 pm daily.

Earlier, the minister visited the site earmarked for the proposed Bangabandhu International Convention Center adjacent to Padma Bridge. The Public Works Department will implement the construction work of the convention center according to the design prepared under the supervision of the Department of Architecture.

Later he participated in the tree plantation program organized by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in Dadabhai suburb under implementation by the National Housing Authority.

It is to be noted that the Tree Plantation Week (8th to 14th July) is being celebrated with the aim of planting 5 lakh trees across the country under the slogan 'Dye Sajai Desh Samridkari Kari Bangladesh' by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. Under this program, this tree planting program was held in Dadabhai Sub-town in Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur.

At this time, everyone present in the ceremony planted one sapling of Chatim tree. After planting the trees, the minister participated in the discussion meeting organized in the project area. In his speech as the chief guest in the discussion meeting, he discussed in detail about global warming, climate change, nature protection and the importance of tree plantation in the contemporary context.

Besides, he commemorated freedom fighter late Elias Ahmed Chowdhury and described his strong role in establishing the country's independence and democratic governance. On his way to the venue, he paid tribute to the memory of late Ilyas Ahmad Chowdhury by placing a wreath at his grave. At this time, he read Fateha and took part in special prayer for the soul of the deceased.

During the participation in the mentioned programs, Hon'ble Member of Parliament of Madaripur-1 Constituency and Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Mr. Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury, Secretary of Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md. Nabirul Islam, Chairman of Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) Major General (retd) Siddiqur Rahman Sarkar, Md. Shamim Akhtar, Chief Engineer of Public Works Department, Mir Manjur Rahman, Chief Architect of Architecture Department, along with senior officials of Ministry of Housing and Public Works and its subordinate offices and local Awami League leaders were present.
