Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak said, a report published in the Daily Prothom Alo on March 26 was "purposeful and conspiratorial".

He said these in a human chain organized by Mahila Awami League in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday in protest against Prothom Alo's false and febricated report.

Jahangir Kabir Nanak said that the reporter and executive editor have withdrawn the news that was published. Through this they proved that the news is baseless, purposeful, conspiratorial.

Commenting that journalism is full of ethics, he said that ethics must be protected along with journalism. We will not give up even if we are proven to be unprofessional with journalism.

Our countrymen were celebrating 52 years of independence with due dignity.

Then a special news of a national daily of the country (Prothom Alo) came to the attention of the countrymen. Even after so many years of independence, we have to stand on the streets and protest against lies and yellow journalism. In this holy month of Ramadan, we have to protest against anti-independence journalism.

Comparing the report with the case of mentally challenged Basanti of Chilmari, Kurigram, published in Ittefaq in 1974, Nanak said, the conspirators printed Basanti's picture in fake clothes to convey the situation in the country in 1974 and sent a message to the whole world and raised questions about my independence. Why did they print that news and for what purpose? This newspaper (Pratham Alo) is always conspiring against our leader, against the development progress of Bangladesh.

Mentioning that there is no benefit in conspiracies, he said that after 52 years of independence, when Bangladesh is moving forward in the direction of development, progress and peace under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, there will be no benefit in conspiracies. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, this trend of our development progress cannot be interrupted in any way.
