People from all walks of life in greater Faridpur’s five districts staged a protest rally and gathering demanding the immediate implementation of Faridpur Division.
Many participants were seen holding placards bearing various demands. The slogan “Our only demand We want Faridpur Division” echoed repeatedly throughout the gathering.
On Thursday at 11 a.m, the protest rally began at Faridpur Press Club premises. The procession marched through Mujib Road, passing the Janata Bank area, Alipur, Hasibul Hasan Lablu Road, and Kabi Jasimuddin Road, before returning to the Press Club premises, where a public gathering was held.
Shahidul Islam, General Secretary of Krishak Dsl said, Faridpur is one of the oldest districts in the country. Given its political, cultural, and demographic importance as well as its geographical position on the western side of the Padma River the inclusion of greater Faridpur districts in the Dhaka Division is unreasonable.
