Protection of fish resources : Bangladesh Coast Guard continues regular patrolling in Bay of Bengal

Bangladesh Coast Guard has continued regular patrolling in the Bay of Bengal with the aim of conserving fish resources and enriching the blue economy.
On the morning of Thursday, the media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi informed this in a press release.
All types of fishing have been banned for 65 (sixty-five) days from May 20 to July 23 in order to preserve fish resources and increase fish resources during the breeding season in the Bay of Bengal. In this context, Bangladesh Coast Guard ships, boats, stations and outposts are conducting regular operations through round-the-clock patrolling to stop all types of fishing in the Bay of Bengal.
Also, public awareness miking and leaflets at various ghats of Patenga, Sangu, Sandwip, Bhatiari, Mirsarai, Cox's Bazar, Kutubdia, Matarbari, Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, Baharchhara, Inani, Himachari, Teknaf, Shahpari and St Martin areas of Chittagong district to discourage local fishermen from harvesting fish from the sea. The activities of the Coast Guard will continue with the aim of preserving the fisheries resources and developing the green economy.
