Press conference to protest attack, vandalism on convoy of former central student leader Golam Azam Saikat

A press conference has been held to protest the attack and vandalism on the convoy of former central student leader Golam Azam Saikat, who is seeking BNP nomination for the Jhalokati-Rajapur, Kanthalia 1 seat. Central student leader Golam Azam Saikat held a press conference at the Jhalokati Press Club Kazi Khalilur Rahman auditorium on Sunday afternoon.
Press conference Golam Azam Saikat alleged that while BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was returning home after distributing leaflets on the 31-point program of state reforms announced by him, a group of people led by BNP Central Executive Committee Religious Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam Jamal attacked his convoy and vandalized his vehicle. The attack took place at Sonali intersection adjacent to Putiakhali Mir Hat in Galua Union of the upazila at around 12 am on Saturday, October 11. At least 10 leaders and activists of BNP and Sramik Dal were injured in the attack. He alleged that Rafiqul Islam Jamal's followers attacked him in a planned manner.
Golam Azam Saikat further alleged that even though the autocratic Hasina government fled on August 5, 2024, Rafiqul Islam Jamal is doing BNP politics with them in Rajapur and Kathalia to rehabilitate Awami League allies.
He also said. As usual, after distributing leaflets, while returning home in a convoy with leaders and activists, the convoy of Rafiqul Islam Jamal, then the religious affairs secretary of the central executive committee, was also moving on the same route.
Rajapur and Kathalia BNP leaders and activists were present at the press conference.
