People don't understand referendum charter: Fakhrul

Jane Alam, Thakurgaon

The referendum should be held on the election day. Even though we understand the referendum charter, the people do not understand it, only educated people understand this," said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He said, "I agree to all the reforms, but whatever I don't agree to, will also be passed in parliament—this is the reality now."

The BNP Secretary General made this statement at a view-sharing meeting organized by Jagannathpur Union BNP at Daulatpur Girls' High School grounds on Sunday  afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "All the crises that are happening in the country are fabrications and dramas. The people do not understand these things, they just want to vote. I will give my vote, I will give it to whoever I want - this is the right that the people want. But this government is not of the people, it does not even understand the suffering of the people."

He said that if BNP comes to power, arrangements will be made to sell rice to farmers at a fair price and family cards will be introduced.

The BNP Secretary General also said, "You know the scales, they are also participating in the elections now. You have to choose between the rice husk and the scales. This is my last election, after that I will not have the power to vote. In my last election, you will cooperate by voting for the rice husk."

District BNP General Secretary Poygam Ali, Finance Secretary Shariful Islam, Sadar Upazila President Abdul Hamid and other leaders and workers of the party were present at the time.
