Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chief Banaj Kumar Majumder has filed a case against four people, including former superintendent of police Babul Akter, expatriate journalist and YouTuber Ilias Hossain.

The case was filed with Dhanmondi Police Station on Tuesday under the Digital Security Act (DSA) and the Special Powers Act.

The other accused are Md Habibur Rahman Labu and Abdul Ayadud Mia. Several unidentified people have also been accused in the case.

According to the case, Babul Akter, husband of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, and other accused are conspiring to divert the investigation of the Mitu murder case. As part of this, the accused, through YouTuber Ilias Hossain, have been circulating documentary video – wife murdered, husband in jail, and killer got the duty of investigation -- on Facebook and YouTube. The video has been prepared with false and baseless information, the case cited.

The statement used in the video tried to damage the image of the state and friendly relations between Bangladesh and India. Also, there have been attempts to create enmity, hatred, unrest, chaos and to damage communal harmony among the Hindu and Muslim communities.

Earlier, Babul Akter had filed a case against six police officers, including Banaj Kumar Majumder, for torturing them in PBI custody. He had filed the case on September 8 alleging custodial torture to "make a confession". On September 11, Babul filed an application with the same court seeking security in Feni jail.

Yesterday, Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court rejected Babul's petition of filing the case.

Earlier on September 13, the PBI submitted a charge sheet against seven people, including Babul in the Mitu murder case.
